
Program Overview
The Open Exchange’s Counselling and Advocacy program strives to deliver safe, effective, connected and person-centred assessment, counselling and advocacy services to individuals and their families. The Counsellor Advocate role brings expertise and an in-depth working knowledge of delivering trauma-informed and trauma focussed interventions for individuals and their families/carers by providing a range of interventions, including early intervention and individual and group-based approaches. Our counsellors are accredited.
Key Outcomes
- Provide safe, effective, connected and person-centred counselling interventions.
- Provide psychoeducation in individual and group settings.
- Facilitate referrals to relevant agencies.
- Contribute to identifying systemic issues affecting individuals and their families of migrant and refugee backgrounds to inform relevant policy.
